About the organization
Business & Human Rights Resource Centre (the Resource Centre) works with diverse allies and partners to put human rights at the core of companies’ business models and end abuse; to support communities and workers in securing their rights and accountability for corporate abuse; and to encourage governments to create the right regulation and incentives to uphold human rights in business. We are a global organisation rooted in five continental regions, comprised of a Global Team of 80. Global Team members work with a rich network of human rights advocates, and place strong emphasis on our alliances with grassroots organisations facing often profound inequalities of power in protecting their rights. The efforts inform our ability to influence responsible business, investors, and governments for transformative change.
Our work covers the full gamut of human rights in business, with particular focus on four thematic programmes: just energy transition and natural resources; civic freedoms and human rights defenders; accountable digital technologies; and workers’ rights in global supply chains. These are strengthened by two cross cutting themes: corporate legal accountability and racial and gender justice.
The opportunity
The Resource Centre is looking for a Regional Manager for the Americas, who will work closely with our regional researchers and representatives in Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, as well as with our Global Team and organisations in the region, to put human rights at the heart of business to deliver a just economy, climate justice, and end abuse.
The focus of our organisation's plans for the region includes: building and driving a regional network on strategic litigation involving business and human rights; supporting ongoing projects on the protection of human rights defenders, labour rights, and the promotion of a just energy transition across the region; building and expanding effective networks and interaction among groups interested in addressing the human rights impacts of business; learning from and supporting local communities, NGOs, and human rights defenders (including labour leaders) to engage with companies and improve human rights protections; protecting rights linked to climate change, transition minerals, and environmental justice; and identifying and addressing risks to the most vulnerable groups, including women, children, indigenous and Afro-descendant communities, and migrant, trafficked, and refugee workers.
The Regional Manager is also expected to help us expand our sources of funding for our work in the region.
