Tell the stories that shape the world’s response.

Across Asia, humanitarian needs are complex, urgent, and evolving. At CARE, we believe powerful, ethical storytelling can mobilize action, shift narratives, and amplify the voices of communities leading change.

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic Regional Communications Advisor to lead CARE USA communications across the Asia Region — driving global media coverage, strengthening regional visibility, and ensuring compelling, high-quality content flows seamlessly from Country Offices to global audiences.

This is more than a communications role. It is a strategic leadership position at the heart of crisis response, brand building, fundraising, and accountability.

The Opportunity

As Regional Communications Advisor, you will serve as:

  • Strategic Media Lead for CARE USA in Asia

  • Crisis Communications Coordinator during humanitarian emergencies

  • Regional Storyteller-in-Chief — gathering, producing, and shaping powerful multimedia content

  • Trusted Advisor & Capacity Builder for Country Office communications teams

You will work closely with global communications colleagues, Regional Management Teams, and Country Offices to elevate CARE’s share of voice, strengthen media engagement, and ensure rapid, coordinated communications during emergencies.

What You Will Do

Media Relations & Global Visibility

  • Lead and coordinate the flow of information between CARE US and Asia Country Offices.

  • Serve as the primary liaison for US and global media requests in the region.

  • Develop and execute a region-wide media engagement strategy to elevate CARE’s presence across pan-regional and alternative media platforms.

  • Coordinate messaging, press engagement, and spokesperson mobilization during crises.

  • Strengthen relationships with key regional and international media outlets.

Content Leadership & Storytelling

  • Work closely with Country Offices to identify compelling stories that reflect CARE’s unique impact.

  • Serve as interviewer, writer, photographer, and videographer in documenting CARE’s work.

  • Produce 1–2 high-quality story collections per country annually — complete with photos, video, and narrative for fundraising, brand-building, and social media.

  • Ensure all storytelling aligns with CARE’s ethical storytelling guidelines and Communications Handbook.

  • Act as advisor and liaison for Member-led content trips and commissions.

  • Review, edit, and refine stories, photos, and video to meet CARE standards.

Crisis Communications

  • Play a central role in CARE’s integrated global crisis response.

  • Coordinate rapid response communications with Country Offices.

  • Support reactive quotes, talking points, and press engagement during emergencies.

  • Ensure each Country Office has a clear communications response plan in place.

  • Maintain readiness to mobilize spokespersons, visuals, and content at speed.

Country Office Support & Capacity Building

  • Coach and mentor communications focal points across the region.

  • Identify and train regional and country-level spokespersons.

  • Strengthen communications systems, tools, and standardization across offices.

  • Conduct field visits to assess and build communications capacity.

  • Support induction and resourcing of new communications focal points.

  • Serve as escalation point for communications policy, procedure, and compliance questions.
