This full-time position is responsible for providing support to the Development team’s fundraising efforts, to include, but not limited to, donation processing, database management, donor research, executing donor communications (online and direct mail), event support, and donor information coordination.
You are an ideal candidate if you have experience in fundraising, database management, and donor operations/relations, and if you work well with diverse constituents, believe in the mission of Refugees International, know how to execute work plans, and fulfill tasks and complete projects in a timely manner. This position is based out of Refugees International’s office in Washington DC. We have a flexible, hybrid work environment, with an expectation of at least 3 days in the office per week.
Responsibilities
Fundraising Administration
- Processes donations - checks, online, etc. - including data entry and issuing acknowledgements.
- Maintains the EveryAction/Bonterra CRM database by keeping up on data entry including pertinent donor biographical information, donor activity, and event attendees, as well as regular data pulls, reports, and analysis.
- Coordinates monthly with the Finance Team to ensure records from both teams are accurate and consistent.
- Keeps all donor data and analytics up to date and accurate.
- Oversees the Monthly Donor Program and smaller annual donors.
- Responsible for ensuring RI’s participation in workplace giving and Combined Federal Campaign - registrations, communications, etc.
Donor Engagement & Communications
- Researches and identifies new donor prospects and provides information to foster a comprehensive giving plan for prospects (workplace giving, gift matching, and employee events).
- Ensures RI’s donor stewardship standards are being upheld through all communication (written and verbal), stewardship events, and general donor interactions.
- Assists with creating and sending donor communications - drafting text, coordinating in the database, and prepping email sends, etc. - in collaboration with the Strategic Outreach team.
- Supports fundraising campaigns including World Refugee Day, End-of-Year, and any other campaigns.
Event Planning and Coordination
- Leads on Development event planning inclusive of identifying potential venues, vendors, executing, etc.
- Provides planning and staffing support for Development events and other initiatives (which may require occasional work after-hours).
Other Duties As Needed
- Provides administrative support to other team members as necessary;
- Engages in supporting RI’s organization-wide fundraising and strategic efforts.
EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION
- Minimum of two years of relevant work experience (part-time or full-time).
- Bachelors Degree preferred, but not required.

- Strong organizational, interpersonal, writing, and communication skills;
- Highly collaborative, organized, and comfortable working across teams and disciplines.

- Ability to forecast the needs of development team members and achieve goals ahead of deadlines;
- Keen understanding and practice of relationship building and customer service;
- Talent to maintain professionalism in all interactions with donors, board members, and other key constituents;
- Demonstrates sound organization skills, efficiency, effectiveness, flexibility, dependability, and ingenuity.
- Willingness to learn the various functions of development and gain fundraising experience.
- Works respectfully and collaboratively with fellow staff members, senior leadership, stakeholders, and members of the board of directors.
- Experience with databases and client relationship management (CRM) software like Salesforce or EveryAction/ Bonterra is preferred, but not required.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.

SALARY RANGE: $60,000-$65,000 annually depending on background and experience.
