Tdh :

Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh), with headquarters in Lausanne and an office in Zurich, is the leading Swiss organisation for child rights. In 2022, we supported 2.6 million children and members of their communities around the world. We trained people who in turn supported a further 4.5 million children and members of their communities.

Context :

Terre des hommes Lausanne (Tdh) opened its delegations in Palestine in 1973. The main coordination office of is in Jerusalem and there is a sub-office in Gaza. Tdh implements a resilience-based approach aiming to strength the whole system for the benefit of vulnerable children and families. Tdh started the emergency response in Gaza in November 2023, with a first project supporting war affected population with Food and Nonfood items. Currently, Tdh is implementing a 3 million CHF emergency portfolio focusing on child protection, health and wash.

Responsibilities :

Under the responsibility of the emergency Field Coordinator, the Logistics and Security Senior Manager guarantees the logistics performance of the base. S/he will be in charge of:

  • Designing and deploying the logistics strategy at the field level.
  • Supporting programs and projects on all logistical aspects at the various stages of the project cycle (project development, implementation, reporting).
  • Implement and ensure compliance with Tdh logistics framework (supply, fleet, equipment, stock, premises, IT…).
  • Drafting logistics standard operating procedures and templates for the base in compliance with Tdh global logistics procedures and templates.
  • Strengthening logistics capacities of all Tdh staff and external partners on Tdh logistics framework (induction, briefings, training in the capital and on bases).
  • Coordinating the logistics activities of the base in close collaboration with other departments.
  • Defining and implementing internal control mechanisms, processes, and measures to ensure adequate use of Tdh resources and assets.
  • Ensuring optimization, efficiency, and safety of logistics workflows (both physical and informative);
  • Implementing an efficient monitoring system of logistics activities across the delegation.

In collaboration with the Emergency Field Coordinator and the Logistic and Security Officer, s/he contributes to the development of the operational security strategy and ensure respect of the security SOPs on Gaza mission level.

S/he hierarchically supervises the Logistic and Security Officer. S/he is furthermore responsible for the capacity-building of all base logistics staff.

Profile :

Education : Higher level studies: Bachelor in Logistics / Transport / Administration or any other relevant degree

Experience & Competencies :

Proven experience as a logistician in an international NGO on a country level or managing a large base (minimum 5 years);

Experience in an emergency or unstable security context.

Experience in team management and experience in training/capacity building

Mastery of logistics procedures.

Mastery of donor procedures (ECHO, OCHA, SDC, UNICEF, etc.).

Languages :

  • Excellent oral and writing skills in English.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is an asset.

IT :

Mastery of the usual tools

Conditions:

  • Swiss Labour Law contract
  • Gross monthly salary between CHF 4’000.- and CHF 4’800.- depending on experience - x13,36 months
  • Insurances: sickness, accident, repatriation
  • Annual leaves: 25 days/year
  • Flights to duty station and back
